HARELAW Trout Fishery

Troutmasters Venue for 2009

Harelaw is located 30 minutes from Glasgow off the M8/M77, 2 miles from Neilston.

Regarded as the premier boat and bank venue in the West of Scotland, Harelaw is renowned for its superb evening rises and top of the water action. There are 2 - 3 miles of bank / wading access and over 100 acres of boat fishing for the serious angler. 14 Boats with outboards available for hire, easy access and disabled boat also available.

Built in 1844, Harelaw is a large shallow reservoir, extending to 102 acres and includes over 3 miles of mature, good wading banks, 4 dam walls and three islands. An averaging depth of 5-9 feet ensures that fish can be found virtually anywhere on the fishery, with a maximum 13ft of water. The moorland setting is also home to a variety of birds and wildlife.
Harelaw offers the boat or bank anglers some of the best top of the water fishing anywhere in Scotland and the prolific hatches of sedges and caenis produce some spectacular evening rises.
The three islands and many shallow bays and peninsulas offer quality drifts and wading from both boat and bank. Harelaw is almost 600ft above sea level and fishing is best with a south westerly wind with slightly overcast skies or into sunset.

The Fishery is stocked weekly with grade 1 Rainbows and Blues from 2Ib upwards. A large head of natural wild brown trout are also present - caught in 2007 to over 7lbs and again in February 2008 to nearly 8lbs.

2009 will see the emphasis on fully finned hard fighting in the 2-4Ibs range with some big doubles for the specimen hunters among you. Coarse fish including Perch, Roach, Carp, Pike and eels are also present all of which must be returned alive and unharmed. Fish supplied by AE FISHERIES

Check the top flies and areas board outside lodge updated day to day.

All serving and ex-serviceman will receive a 10% discount on any ticket on displaying I.D card or legion card.

COYLE WATER FISHERY

Regarded as one of Ayrshire's top Stillwater venue's. We have 2 Lochans stocked weekly with top quality fish renowned for their hard fighting qualities.

2 Lochans and a small rearing pond we have something to offer everyone. The small Lochan is primarily for Bait fishing and suitable for all ages. The main loch is Fly only and the gin clear water offers a great days fishing for novices and the seasoned fly fisher. With the two lochs combining all aspects of Trout fishing, Coyle Water makes for an ideal family day out.

Abundant hatches and large numbers of terrestrials on our main loch, give excellent fishing all year round with nymphs, buzzers and dry flies. Buzzards and Hawks can be seen hovering above the fishery on most days. It is not unusual for the resident deer to be seen drinking at the lochans.

Stocked weekly throughout the year with fully finned top quality hard fighting Rainbows, Blues and Brown Trout from 2lbs upwards into double figures you will always be assured of excellent sport. Watch out for the occasional Goldie, Tiger or Brook Trout. A popular feature for families is our bait pond, again stocked weekly with good quality fish averaging over 1lbs 8oz.

Hidden from the main road, with good access and parking facilities. Access and facilities for the disabled. Coyle Water makes for an ideal family day out.
